The importance of ocean data, information and knowledge has never been greater. As an essential input to the solution to major societal challenges, as well as being critical to the equitable and sustainable use of the ocean and its immense resources, demand for the means to capture ocean data and create essential ocean information services is growing. This growing New Blue Economy, comprising the technological tools to undertake the observations and measurements needed to map, explore, characterize, and forecast the ocean, and the use of the resulting information and knowledge to support the delivery of societal and economic benefits, is the central theme of Oceanology International Americas.
Innovation lies at the heart of the ability to serve the ocean information needs of the future. From the data, information and knowledge needed to ensure climate resilience and the maintenance of critical ocean ecosystem services, to underpinning the delivery of net zero, innovation in the means to observe and measure the ocean, and to turn the resulting data into actionable information, is essential to enabling future New Blue Economy technologies and services.
Oceanology International Americas provides the opportunity to view the very latest innovations in the means to capture, analyze and interpret ocean data. Complementing the array of technologies and services exhibited on the show floor, the Oi Americas conference program allows delegates to gain critical insights into the value chain connecting ocean observations and measurements to the delivery of key societal and economic benefits.

At daily Ocean Futures plenary sessions, delegates will hear from and network with distinguished speakers from government, academia and industry. The opening plenary session will explore and discuss the essential steps to unlocking the potential of the New Blue Economy. The subsequent session will explore how the New Blue Economy will contribute to climate repair, supporting the delivery of net zero though the transition to offshore renewable energy and the development of ocean carbon sequestration. The final plenary will consider the delivery of the science, technology and skills needed to underpin New Blue Economy growth. Topical Discussion sessions will allow delegates to hear important updates on key projects such as progress with Seabed 2030’s mission to accurately map the entire ocean floor, the latest developments in the UN Decade of Ocean Science, and the data and information needs of deep ocean mining, as well as exploring the incubation and acceleration of ocean science and technology start-ups, and the inspiration of the next generation of ocean scientists and technologists.
Together with a series of technical tracks showcasing the latest innovations in ocean science and technology in support of key New Blue Economy application and market areas, the Ocean Futures and Topical Discussion sessions comprising the Oceanology International Americas conference program will connect all stakeholders across the New Blue Economy. The conference will facilitate better understanding of present and future opportunities and foster partnerships, collaborations and business opportunities contributing to the delivery of a New Blue Economy better able to serve present and future needs.
